Airborne patch

According to Soviet Arm Badges: 1920-91, this is the original style airborne sleeve shield in use from 1967 -1968. The patch depicted appears a little different from that in the book. I've seen a number of these available on ebay during the past few months. Perhaps they are a remake?

If these are showing up en masse, I'd probably steer clear of them. Yes, they were produced from photograph evidence, but are rare compared to the typical patch and you should ask yourself why are they all showing up suddenly, especially if the seller has black & red ones?

I've got a copy of this book. Its by a bloke called Stepanov. I got my copy at a military fair over here in London.

re: VDV Patch

I have yet to see a real one for sale anywhere. The ones for sale on ebay have all been fake. Considering it was only used for a short period of time, I imagine this is one of the "holy grails" for collecting Soviet patches.

re: VDV Patch

Thanks guys. Holy Grail indeed. However, at the moment, it seems more like "Mission Impossible". Happy Collecting! Jim
