Both of these are NOT sniper badges. They are Voroshilovsky Strelok, or Voroshilov's Shooter (or rifleman), badge. These were issued to various organizations (RKKA, NKVD) and both of yours are for OSOAVIAKHIM, a civilian, paramilitary organization meant to assist the military and prepare youth for military service. A BIG stretch of a comparison, but kind of a like a state sponsored NRA and the badges were for shooting well enough.

Examples with the second grade "II" device has been hard for me to find. I only have one, this RKKA. The II on mine is more detailed than the one on yours. I'd like to see examples from other collections for comparison.

OK thanks to both of you. These badges are offered as sniper badges. Could a mod move this thread into the fake Voroshilov thread please?

Another one offered and after checking in Borisov, found that it is a 1938 Sniper badge. Could I get an opinion please? Thanks

I don't like the look of any of the two. The one you posted Dannybou has a suspect patina and poor enamel. Not to mention the never used screwpost.
The one Dolf posted has fake written all over it. Poor detail especially on "RKKA". The reverse has no aging whatsoever. Must be more of theese out now than were made in 1938... :( /Kim |
