Badge "Resident Of The Blockade Of Leningrad".
It is very detailed, excellent quality medal. Was it made by LMD?

Hi Eddie,
I picked up one of these in St Petersburg last year. Receipients of this badge?/medal?/award? were also marching in the Victory Day Parade. From what I was told, it was made during the 90's, which in a way is surprizing given the quality of manufacture. Marc |

I got the scan a while ago from a dealer. It is dated 1990, making it a Soviet badge, not Post-Soviet.

Ron,
If you mean $11 just for the medal, I think that it is expensive; it goes for under $1 in StPetersburg. If it is with the document, that is probably still a bit steep, but could be OK. Marc |

Lapa, you need to consider where you buy it from and how many intermediaries it went through... I bought a Distinguished Military Service 2nd class medal for 7$ in a small city in western Ukraine. I also bought Order of Red Star 4xx,xxx for 7$, defense of Stalingrad, Leningrad, and other for 4$ each... But those are not the price you will find here in North America, once the medals have been through some intermediaries... they all need to take a profit!
I bought many of my items directly from a man who was standing every days, in the bazaar with a sign at his neck advertising he was buying gold, diamonds, medals and orders.... he was buying directly from the owners for a very cheap price. Also, he didn't know much about the market value we have here. I even heard before, they use to buy medals by weight, not even considering the rarity of the item! I think 5$ would be a fair price of the leningrad survivor badge in North America now. Last edited by matteti; 06-14-2005 at 11:57 AM. |
