Russian Caviar
O.K., this may sound hokey, but a friend of mine REALLY wants to partake of authentic Russian caviar this New Years..can someone recommend an acceptable quality brand and more importantly a good reliable place to buy from? I'm the alaskan king crab legs sort of guy so I my un-educated palate is in your hands

Is there a real big difference as far as taste? Seeing as I wouldn't know the subtle difference that I'm sure exist between the two, I guess whichever one is good but least expensive.

Its all good! I love caviar...the red will be quite expensive (Beluga); go with the darker (Sevruga)...do you have a Kings by you Art? They have an OK selection, usually in the Deli area.
However, make an entire spread, Caviar, Vodka, and zakuska (toast, veggies, etc.); great on a cold night! DougD Last edited by DougD; 11-29-2007 at 09:44 AM. |

Somehow, I thought the good Russian caviar was no longer being exported (and Iranian also cannot be had)? Tell me I am wrong, please!

Well, I have tried both kinds of caviar, and I assure you, if those seawater taste eggs had been not that expensive, I wouldn´t had eaten them.

DougD[/QUOTE] Caviar is great stuff. Doug makes a great point. After a couple evenings of caviar, vodka and zakuska I could swear I was speaking Russian to our Russian hosts!!!
