Recipients
Those awarded the Order of the Red Star includes many well known individuals as well as thousands of regular troops. Among the notable recipients are two time Hero of the Soviet Union and five time recipient of the Order of the Red Star, Major-General I.N. Spepanenko (Fig.19) and Hero of the Soviet Union, Colonel A.P. Yakimov. The number of four time recipients is noticeably greater. Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel V.S. Volkov received three Red Stars. Two time recipients of the Order of the Red Star include; Sr. Sgt. D.A.Shulga, Jr. LT. K.P. Tishchik and Hero of the Soviet Union Colonel I.E. Ryzhkov. Single Orders went to individuals including; Female snipers Nina Alexeyevna Lobkovskaya and Heroine of the Soviet Union Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Major P.V. Bazanov, Colonel Boris Fedorov and Captain A. Pavlynk (Fig. 21). Many notable Hero's of the Soviet Union were also recipients of one or more Orders of the Red Star (Fig. 22-28 McDaniel, P.)

The following chart (Fig. 28.) breaks down the serial numbers of the Order by the year they were awarded. Whether for valor or long service, the Order of the Red Star was one of the most awarded Orders of the Soviet Union. Due to the large numbers awarded by the Soviet Union, there are plenty available for any collector to obtain at least one or two for their collection. Common Orders of the Red Star with documents are so affordable that they are a great piece to start off a collection.
