Hmmm. It generally looks ok but warrants a closer check. I don't like the pictures but maybe they are just bad images. They look awful shiny. I would want to actually feel it to be sure. The stamp also needs a good examination. However, I have not seen any good fake KGB IDs before - just the blank fantasy ones.

Should there have to be number on the line below the picture?

You are correct. I looked up my images of genuine KGB IDs - both in my collection and others people have sent me - and they all have this filled out.

Combined with my concerns about the shiny-ness and the fact that the picture of a general in parade uniform is just too-good to believe I now have grave doubts.

If the buyer of this is out there I would love to talk to them. here are some other points about the forensic qualities of the paper, photo, stamp, ink, lamination, etc which can help to tell but you need to see the original.

Sadly, if these are being faked then perhaps next time they will add the serial number.

This one is 100% fake, and I have already seen them. BTW, have you noticed that the cover says "KGB CCCP" and on the inside it's "KGB pri CM CCCP"? :rant:

These have the same problems as the others - bad hand writting, background design, etc.
