Bill Dienna Wrote:2. The photo: it seems to have a white space at the lower right corner. I've never seen this before on an I.D. photo. My thought was that it might have been copied from another I.D. document, in which case the rubber stamp from that document would have been on it. So THAt part of the photo was covered when it was copied for this document, thus leaving the white corner.
Hi Bill,
I am far from being expert and don't know a lot about KGB IDs so I won't express any opinion about authenticity.
I just wanted to tell you about the picture that the white space at lower right corner is very common and doesn't mean anything with finding out if the ID is fake or not. I have seen many real and valid ID photos like this. Even now, in Ukraine, they mostly use this method for ID photos.
My own opinion is that it makes it easier to see that the photo was really stamped (that it was actually there before the stamp was put).
Not all ID photos are like this, but from what I know, only ID photos have such white lower right corner.... At least, you can be sure this was not a picture taken from soviet army archive files that was cropped and glued to your document before being stamped.
Other members can certainly tell you more about other aspects of the ID booklet you posted here.
