Its sickening.
I only have 1 person who isn't a forum member that i would even think about buying anything over the value of about $10 from, just because it's not even worth the hassle of having to worry about fakes.
Maybe i'm losing out on some deals somewhere, but i don't really care, i can't handle stress. There are some good people on here that can pretty much always help in your hunt for what you desire, so i just don't take the risk.

But I would never have guessed they were able to make such a good fake of a complicated order like the Friendship Among People...That is really worrying me. Especially since I am still a pupil compared with many guys on this forum.
USSR,
Actually, very convincing fakes of the Frendship of Nations order have been produced in the Baltic States for quite a few years.

Care to share with me who it is?

That is the safest way to go, but you still need to acquire the necessary knowledge in order to be able to sort the good from the bad for yourself. In the long run, you'll get a higher quality collection.

I remeber one german collector without any knowledge about soviet awards, who showed me his collection. 80% of his medals were fakes.
As I said to him, I am pretty sure that these medals are fakes he answered: I am the greenhorn and have no knowledge.
Even a native russian showed me a black and white picture (Yes ! black and white picture in a russian book) of a 20 years RKKA medal and stated my medal which I wanted to sell is a fake. It should look like the medal in the book. A bad black and white picture ! in a book.
At this time I stopped explaining these kind of people why there medals are fakes. Endless discussions about nothing with no results.
Sadly there are a lot of ignorant people out.
Years ago I meet a really "honest" man from Berlin who wanted to sell his collection. He had left a few pieces for sale. One was a 5th award Red Banner. He bought it in the mid 90´s. Sadly he bought one of these fake Red Banner made 1993 by mint with wrong reverse.
He paid a lot of money for the 5th award. I felld really sorry about him.
At this time internet and books about soviet awards were not wide spread and available.
best regards
Andreas

The date and serial number line up which is a start.
The writing isn't the neatest but i would think it's ok.
I would wait for others opinions though :-)

The number is about the right sort of region for the time and I don't see anything wrong with the type of booklet - unless I am overlooking something. I think it's alright.
The pen is the same as many of 1966 awards in the collection.

Some Ukaz for the Ministry of Geology & also Machine building for the "Light and food industry & household appliances" industry.
Again, it doesn't really mean a lot, but it's interesting :).

Thank you, gentlemen; although I thought the book was genuine, the ink, the "E" series Order Book, "Lenin" stamp, and dates of conferring were of concern. I am pleased things appear to be consistent.

That sort of pen and ink is quite prevalent in that time period. The pen flows rather too easily and can often cause rather sloppy writing (that sometimes needs correcting).
I'd take the red pencil any day.
