Can this be? I'm about 99% sure the entry is for a OPW2. The date is obviously 1956, about 11 years after an award with that serial number was awarded.
Is this a catch-up, or just bad?

I think it's a catch-up awarding of a war-time produced award, i.e. the award was manufactured in '45, however was unawarded at the time. It went back to the mint or some centralized storage area, then sat there for 11 years until awarded as a catch-up.
Either that or you can take a serious leap of faith and claim it was awarded for the Hungarian operation...

And only research could answer those questions. Then you could know.

Thanks Paul & Marc. This is kind of cool and rare. I've had this booklet for who knows how long. I just happened to be going through my booklet collection yesterday and it popped out at me. Thanks for the help.
Sadly research would cost 5 times what the item's worth so.... :(
So I respond here with thanks and then go to eBay for my morning search. I got time to kill as I'm off work today and the first thing I click on is this! Comes with a VoG dated 45 and a Bulgarian 25th anniversary of victory. What the heck?!? :)

Maybe it would cost five times the market value, but what about the historical value? As it stands, it has none of that but it could research out as something interesting (and maybe VERY interesting).
Researching a $20 Glory III revealed it was a late award to a front-line nurse (female). That gave the THING significant historical value and, I guess, market value too. (Not as if I plan on selling it.)

Nothing wrong with this one. OPW2s type 2 were produced up to 1969. Nr. 936010 was manufactured in 1966, so could very well have been awarded in 1969.

This is part of the first booklet (mine): did I get his name right, or even close?
