Greetings,

I recently picked up this Order of Glory 3rd class. The serial number appears very low.

On close inspection I think the first digits of the number have been ground back, however the general wear and tear marks where the numbers may have been seem of equal depth and frequency to other sections of the rear.

Opinions would be appreciated

Best wishes
David

Hi David,

hard to say if there was a first digit which was scratched out. It is possible, the serial number tend to be more on the right side. This could be a hint that the first digit was scratched out.

Please post a detailed picture of the front. Especially the tower with the clock. Maybe this gives us more clues.

The number range would put it as a version 2. But looking at the photos provided I would suggest its a version 3, numbered range from 130k to 340k.

I believe this is the case due to the circles on the reverse, note the inner circle to be absent or partially absent, which is a classic sign for version 3.

That mark at the front of the digits looks suspect though:confused:

I agree that without detailed photos I can't tell you much more.:thumbsup

Still hard to tell, but I'll put my money on it being a 6 digit version 3:D

Let's see what the real experts reckon:thumbsup

To my eye it look like a vertical indention going up the side of the star where the first number should be, a slight groove.
