Matching Hat for Ukrainian Uniform
#1
I'm thinking my original post was too far off-topic ... so I'll try to bring it in line. Aside from trying to find the correct hat to complete the Ukrainian uniform, I'm really trying to understand how different the all the SSR uniforms were from the Russian SFSR? Would a 1982 Army Officer's Parade uniform in RSFSR = a 1982 Army Officer's Parade uniform Ukrainian SSR? Or were there some variations? Is the uniform pictured below clearly post-1991?

How much did the influence spread to the other Communist states like Yugoslavia, Hungary, Romania, Czechoslovakia, etc. Did any other states adopt the same uniform and just add different accoutrements?

My original post:

"Does anybody have a picture of the correct hat for this Ukrainian uniform?

I thought I had found the correct hat (see picture), but apparently I was way off since it's a completely different shade of grey/green.

I'm still not very confident that I know what this uniform is ... I assume it's a post-1991 Ukrainian Captain's duty uniform. From what I can gather, the reddish-pink pins on the collar designate that it is a "police" uniform, but I don't know if these are correct (or if somebody just stuck them on there). The shoulder boards are not stiff like the Soviet uniforms that I have (It's like the cardboard is missing). The buttons on the front of the jacket and on the sleeves all have the Ukrainian Trident symbol.

I can provide close-up shots if anybody needs them."

In the Soviet union, Every SSR's military units wore the same uniforms. The uniform posted is post 1991. It is appears to be a transitional period uniform. Now, about the cap and uniform, can you post:
Pictures of button on tunic sleeve, and a closeup of front and back
Tag inside tunic, if still there
Sweat diamond inside cap
Side chinstrap buttons on cap

Also, I need you to check if the fabric quality/weave of the tunic and the cap, if they are similar...

Thanks!! I was incorrect about the buttons on the sleeves ... there are none there. The tag has been cut out of the tunic ... only part remaining is the iron symbol ... however, the overcoat that came with the uniform still has the tags. Here are the pictures.

Here are close ups of the buttons on the front of the tunic, and the collar insignia.

And the Hat sweat diamond and side button

The fabric weave on the hat looks very close to the uniform ... but the color is not even close ... the hat is grey and the uniform is olive green.

There's also a hole on the right breast of the tunic and the mark of a small screw back plate evident on the inside of the tunic. Any idea what an appropriate badge would be for a (Police?) Captain:confused:

Dj,

No doubts about it, this uniform is post 1991.

Thanks Marc ... I've seen a few Ukrainian School/University/Academy badges around ... shouldn't be too hard to complete that part of the uniform now:thumbsup
