Question About Admiral's Parade Cap!
#1
Hey All-

I just picked up this Admiral's summer parade cap. I have alot of Soviet hats, but this is the first one to really stump me. The quality is too nice to be a fake (I hope) but it's not feeling 100% right for me. I don't have another admiral's hat to compare it to though. I figured I'd ask the experts again!

It is sturdy construction, removable white top, and seems legit. Buttons are two-piece admiral's with small writing on back but no discernible dates. I just don't like the inside...

My guess is:
1. Circa 1990, real but unused.
2. Real, private purchase piece
or.....3. Ukrainian fake...

I hope it's 1 or 2...
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

There are obviously others better informed than me on what real clothing articles looks like, but having plenty of experience with modern Ukrainian manufactured items, I would tend towards #3.

my guess is #3 too; coarse, rough embrodery, lemon or light yellow color...

While not a specimen of the latest generation fakes with the completely wrong type of embroideries, this one at least have the correct style. It looks indeed a bit rough, based on the interior construction my guess would be an Ukrainian parts made cap from the early post-Soviet 1990s.

I posted a number of pictures of my admirals caps in some other thread so I won't go over the process again.

Well I had my suspicions but that's a bit disappointing...Oh well, they got me. It happens to everyone. What do I do with it now? Does it have any redeeming value?

Also, now that I have a fake one, can anyone advise me of a good source for authentic admiral's hats?

I've said it before and I'll say it again... You can use it to "dress up" at a party and you can get as drunk as you like a be sick in it and it won't hurt anyone. Although I don't suggest going to a fancy dress party just in an admiral's hat.
