In the very, very centre of the city of Vienna - at "Schwarzenberplatz" - we have a huge and very beautiful Victory-Monument for the Red Army. Viennese people are not so fond of it's existence, but the community of Vienna is obliged to keep the monument in a perfect condition.
True. But most of us - by the very essence of collecting Soviet awards - pays deep respect to the people behind the orders and medals.
look at the paper - what a great respect to the veterans:
I just recorded a film on Marshal CCCP Rokosovski, and in it is the ceremony in which 4 orders of victory are awarded. GREAT!
Also, all day there are special programs on the Russian channel (I will have about 8 hours of video at the end of the day...).
Well - I have the whole parade in the red square - it is about 45 minutes long. AND - most of the 1945 parade which was aired today. And a LOT of heavy decorated veterans...
Here is the picture Tal was talking about he sent the original to me and asked me to resize it and then post it..enjoy! BTW, the case looks almost identical to the case for the Order of Friendship..
Here is a nice 'panorama' one that I took on Victory Day in Moscow in 1996. Unfortunately, my wife won't let me go back this year!
Here's a closeup of the guys on the end. I WANT the group of the fellow with the beard... Suvorov 3rd, Khmelnitsky 3rd, 2 x PW 1st, PW 2nd, 3 x Red Star, Homeland 3rd, Red Banner and Military Merit. NICE! It's unfortunately that since 1996, 2/3's of these guys have died...
