In just ten days of intense combat actions during the Patriotic War, he personally conducted 20 combat sorties. His squadron in total carried out 207 combat sorties, conducting various combat missions, including 108 sorties escorting Il-2 ground-attack aircraft. In all cases the Il-2 aircraft carried out their missions, without any losses from enemy fighters.

On February 3, 1943 he was on a mission covering ground-attack aircraft near the Koldun Mountains. In a sea of anti-aircraft fire and invisible due to the thick clouds, four enemy fighters appeared, which repeatedly attempted to attack our ground-attack aircraft, but every time they were met by the group of fighters under his command. During the air battle he showed himself an excellent fighter pilot, capable of correctly orchestrating the fight and leading his unit in the air.

During the combat sorties covering Il-2 aircraft, he repeatedly encountered enemy fighters, beating off their attacks on the ground-attack aircraft. Despite the high intensity of the combat actions, in just ten days his squadron, comprising eight aircraft, carried out 207 combat sorties without any losses, breakdowns, or malfunctions.

He is a disciplined, civilized, and sophisticated officer, who possesses a lot of flying experience and is capable of correctly orchestrating the combat actions and leading his unit.

During the combat actions he demonstrated his dedication to the Party of Lenin and Stalin and the socialist motherland.
