Odd Looking Honor Guard Officer Badge
I recently purchased this badge off of eBay for only $15.99 (including shipping)! Since these Soviet era badges are very seldomly seen I couldn't pass up the chance! Anyway, what makes this breast badge an odd find is that the interior of the shield is not painted red. Its gold like the rest of the badge. I have never seen one of these breast badges that had the interior of the shield uncolored. Does anyone have any information on these badges? I know that Officers that were detached to the Moscow Military District Orchestra also wore very similar badges (if not the same).

Re: Odd Looking Honor Guard Officer Badge
There is information posted here on these badges. If memory serves me correctly they were worn by the Kremlin guards or strategic rocket forces (or both?).

Re: Odd Looking Honor Guard Officer Badge
But from how I understand it the usual honor guard breast badges for uniforms had the interior of the shield painted red. I've never seen one that is one uniformed color. This is definitely an unusual specimen. I don't see any reason why these badges would be faked. I'm just wondering if this one made it out of the factory with the shield unpainted. I'm wondering if I should hand paint it so that it looks like the one in the below picture?

Re: Odd Looking Honor Guard Officer Badge
I have one exactly like yours with an unpainted center and don't know enough about its providence or wear to guide you. I would advise you against modifying it, however.

Re: Odd Looking Honor Guard Officer Badge
Thank you for the information! I have also seen some badges that have the border of the shield painted blue witht he red interior also. I'm just curious if the different colors mean anything. If anyone has any further information I would appreciate it. I'm just wondering if these badges were issued to any Officer detached to an honor guard unit? Or do the color combinations on the badge mean anything?
