This original 1862 Civil War lithographic roster print, titled "The Soldier's Record," features Company H of the 18th Regiment, Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. Published by Currier & Ives in New York, the broadside showcases patriotic imagery across the top header, including an American eagle, the U.S. Capitol, George Washington, and the bombardment of Fort Sumter. The lower portion details the company's full roll, listing non-commissioned officers, musicians, field staff, and privates, centered around oval portrait vignettes of Captain Charles D. Bowen and his lieutenants.
The print remains housed in its antique wood frame with its early wood-plank backing. The paper exhibits visible age toning and historic water staining, primarily along the upper left margin and borders, but the lithographic artwork, printed names, and center portraits remain clear and legible throughout. The frame shows age-appropriate wear, including finish flaking and chipping along the lower right corner.
