1865 - "WORK PAYMENT" Document for Union Soldiers in LAVACA CO., TEXAS:
$35.85
Here is an ORIGINAL Civil War document whereas railroad Labors were hired in LAVACA COUNTY (Hallettsville), TEXAS. This document shows the hiring of 22 men as Laborers, warehouse workers and etc... The men hired here are "paid" during the Month of December of 1865. After many men were discharged for their service, they bought personal clothes, after their only payment ! (see image #8 )
Highest paid worker here is # 6 ( William N. Greenwood ), he was paid $ 640 for his one month workmanship (see image # 14).
This is an authentic document from the Civil War era. The conflict it represents is one of the most significant in American history, and it has been preserved in its original form. The document is a great addition to any collection of militaria, and it will surely be a prized possession for years to come. Honored to know that the Civil War "moved out" to Texas.
Size of this document is: 16 by 12.5 inches and in EXCELLENT condition !!
Note: I think, this was payment to workers for building the railroad through Lavaca Co., Texas.
