1940 WW2 Soviet NKVD Border Guard Officer Photo Latvia Occupation Red Army USSR For Sale

Up for sale is an extremely rare, 100% original World War II era photograph featuring a Soviet NKVD Border Guard (Pogranichnik) officer or junior commander. He is wearing the iconic pre-war NKVD service cap (visor hat) with a metal star badge and a model 1935 uniform tunic (french) with distinctively piped collar tabs. This image captures a very brief and historical window: it was taken in Latvia after the Soviet forces entered the Baltic states in June 1940, but right before the German Nazi invasion in June 1941. Elite NKVD border units were among the very first to engage enemy forces during the outbreak of the war. Highly sought after by militaria experts due to being printed by a local Latvian studio on premium European photo paper with a scalloped edge. The reverse features the original pre-war Latvian "Fotokartiņa" postcard print with old album paper/bone glue residues. You can safely soak it in lukewarm water for a few minutes to clean the back. Please check the pictures carefully.
