Original WWII-era patriotic illustrated cover/envelope, postmarked Lomita, California, Apr 23 1945. Fantastic U.S. Coast Guard-themed design with bold wartime slogans:
“Greetings from U.S. Coast Guard”
“CRUSH THE JAPANESE MENACE!”
“DESTROY NAZISM!”
The cover is franked with three 1¢ George Washington stamps and also features two colorful “For Crippled Children” charity seals.
Even better, it is addressed to “Cactus Pete” in Los Angeles, California—almost certainly a period nickname, giving this piece extra personality and strong WWII homefront character.
A great collectible for World War II postal history, patriotic covers, U.S. Coast Guard memorabilia, and WWII-era graphic ephemera.
