It launched an education campaign to enhance survivability that included a detailed survey that was reviewed by the Census Bureau.The Student Manual, SM-3-11 A contained all the basic survivability standards and information about the Civil Defense program.One family that completed the survey received this gloomy letter letting them know their housing didn't have a chance of helping them survive an atomic blast.Not the best news to arrive in your mailbox...
