1979 East German Medal for Merit 40 Years Founding and Consolidation DDR Award For Sale

DESCRIPTION:
You are purchasing an authentic East German 1949-1979 Medal for Merits in the Founding and Consolidation of the DDR.This specific medal was established on September 4, 1978, by the ruling Socialist Unity Party (SED). It was created as a one-time commemorative award given out on October 7, 1979—the "Tag der Republik" (Republic Day)—marking exactly 30 years since East Germany was founded in 1949. The physical design of the medal directly reflected the SED's political ideals. The front side features a worker, a farmer, and a scientist standing together against a backdrop of factories and apartment blocks. This imagery heavily promoted the Marxist-Leninist concept of the “Bündnispolitik”—the political alliance between the working class, peasantry, and the socialist intelligentsia working in unison to "consolidate" the state. We have more than one available. You may choose to purchase ONE or ALL. Some may have minor imperfections not reflected on the photo shown. A great piece of Cold War history from a country that no longer exists.
