The order was established by law on September 9, 1945 in two degrees.
The order was awarded once to Bulgarian and foreign citizens for participation in the revolutionary partisan and military struggle of the Bulgarian people. The order could be awarded posthumously.
( On September 9, 1944, a government coup took place in Bulgaria - the seizure of central and local power in the Kingdom of Bulgaria, the overthrow of the government of Konstantin MURAVIEV, and power passed to the «Fatherland Front» .
Bulgaria entered the USSR's zone of influence and became part of the Eastern Bloc.)
The first degree of the order differs from the second degree in the color of the enamel.
The first degree has white enamel, the second degree has red enamel.
