Circa 1815 2nd Empire French Lion Head Epee Sword MOP Grip Napoleon Battle War:
$897.00

I am offering for sale a circa 1815 French lion head epee sword that dates to the 2nd Empire following the overthrow of Napoleon. It is in excellent condition. The handle features a lion head pommel with a fullered mother of pearl grip and a clamshell guard depicting a victorious soldier in armor. The knuckle guard also has ornate depictions of a classical figure and scrollwork. It is similar to the form shown as figure 819 on page 431 of the authoritative French sword guide, Epees by Jean Lhoste. It measures 37 inches overall and the blade is 32 inches long.
