We are a small family business based in the Twin Cities Area of Minnesota, passionate about preserving history through authentic military artifacts. Established in 2014, every item in our store has a story to tell, connecting you to a significant piece of the past.
Product DescriptionBelow is the detailed description of the product:
Original matched pair of East German (DDR) junior officer shoulder boards attributed to the Ministry for State Security (MfS), commonly known as the Stasi. These boards feature the distinctive silver-gray interwoven cords on dark green underlay, denoting company-grade officer rank (Leutnant to Oberleutnant). The construction is consistent with late Cold War production, with the flat-woven backing and loop for button attachment intact.
The Stasi served as East Germany’s secret police and intelligence agency from 1950 until reunification in 1990, playing a central role in domestic surveillance, counterintelligence, and suppression of political dissent. Junior officers wearing boards of this type would have been engaged in tasks ranging from internal security and border enforcement to intelligence gathering on both domestic and foreign targets. These shoulder boards represent the professional appearance and militarized structure of the Stasi, offering collectors an important artifact of Cold War history and East German state security apparatus.
