Original Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) Officer Specialist 3rd Class qualification badge, patterned after the Specialist of the USSR Armed Forces qualification badges used by the Soviet military.
The badge features the characteristic broad winged design associated with the Soviet specialist qualification system, with a central shield displaying the numeral “3,” indicating 3rd Class specialist qualification. The lower portion incorporates military imagery including an armored vehicle, while the blue and white enamel and overall design distinguish the Cuban version.
Cuba adopted numerous elements of Soviet military organization, training, equipment, uniforms, and insignia during the Cold War, and this badge is an excellent example of that influence. Rather than being simply an armored/tank badge, it represents an officer’s professional military specialist qualification, with the numbered class indicating the holder’s recognized level of proficiency.
Gold-colored metal construction with blue and white enamel and horizontal pin attachment on the reverse. Shows normal age and wear consistent with a vintage military badge; please refer to the photographs for exact condition.
