Key Components on
Parachutist Badge (Jump Wings): At the top is a silver-finish badge with a parachute between two wings. Known as "Jump Wings," this is awarded to U.S. and allied military personnel who have completed basic airborne training.
ROK-U.S. Alliance Pin: Below the wings is a shield-shaped enamel pin. It features the U.S. flag (left) and the South Korean flag (Taegeukgi, right) side-by-side, symbolizing the long-standing military partnership between the two nations.
ROK Army Rank Insignia: The central green patch features two Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon) flowers, which are South Korea’s national flower. In the ROK military, these flowers denote officer ranks.
Two Mugunghwa flowers on a green background typically represent the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Jungnyeong) in the South Korean Army.
Korean Text (쉐퍼):
The white text at the bottom is a phonetic transliteration of a name, most likely "Shae-peo" (Schaefer or Shafer). It is common for service members stationed in Korea to have such custom patches made to include their name in Hangul.
Presented to U.S. military personnel who worked closely with their South Korean counterparts, often in units like the 2nd Infantry Division or the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command.
