Early 18th Century French / English Officer’s Small Sword 1728:

Very Ornate French and Indian/ Revolutionary War Period Officer’s Smallsword
Sword has fancy etching and gold inlay on blade with the date 1728. Also the grip, handle and blade are tight but there is a small piece at the edge of crossgaurd that broke off. It has a brass guard with relief castings of man with dogs and other depictions of mythical beasts on each side of clam shell guard. It also has medallion picture of King George II with gold inlay on one side of blade with the date 1728, this was King George II first year as King. The other side of the blade has a sun motif in gold inlay also with the date 1728, this is the year that James Bradley first calculates the speed of light.
