Fine form to this all original, never been messed with, iron trade axe. All hand forged. Probably dates from around 1790-1810. Found in the Upper Western Great Lakes. Axe is solid and well made. Sharp blade. Put a handle on it and you could chop down a tree!! Eye is slightly tear dropped shaped and tapered outside in. Eye measures 1 1/8 x 1 3/8 at the wider outside opening and is 1/8th inch smaller in both directions at the smaller inner opening. Popular trade item. Size of this one would indicate it was carried for use as an essential tool in the woods and for protection. Measures 5 3/8 long. Buyer pays $10 postage. Shipped only in the lower 48 USA.
