Theseare GUARANTEED ORIGINAL medal and document officially issued by the Sovietauthorities in 1940s, NOT reproductions!
Themedallion of the medal is made of brass and measures 37.2 mm in heightincluding the eyelet, 32.3 mm in width. The front shows the profile of Stalinand the motto “Our Cause Was Just – We Won”. On the reverse, there is araised inscription “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War,1941-1945”. The medal is the earliest variation (Variation 1), featuring aseparate eyelet soldered to the medallion – as opposed to the later versionswith the eyelet struck as a single piece with the rest of the medallion.
TheMEDAL is in GREAT condition, especially for an Original WW2 soldier’s award! The medallion shows none of the usual visible edge bumps, significant dings ornicks. There are some minor scratches to the bas-relief portrait, but theraised details of the artwork and lettering are practically perfect andexceptionally crisp. There is mild, attractive, even toning to the brass, whilethe original “gilt” mint luster is clearly visible in recessed areas, especially on the reverse. The medallion is completely free of tarnish orblemishes.
Themedal comes on a late-1940s suspension device, a single-layer model in brass. The ribbon is old, most likely of the period; it shows only minor wear at theedges but no soiling, and remains sound and adds a great amount of character tothe award.
TheAWARD CERTIFICATE is of booklet format, measuring 3" x 4 ¼ " whenclosed. The inside pages show the image of the medal and hand-written name andrank of the award recipient, Senior Sergeant Abram Vorobyov. It also shows thehand signature of a senior lieutenant who was the chief of the MilitaryCommissariat of the Krasnoarmeyskiy (“Red Army”) district. There is also thecommissariat’s ink stamp, but it is very faint and unfortunately, it isimpossible to tell in what specific city or region the document was issued(there was a district called Kransoarmeyskiy in many Soviet cities).
Thedocument is in GOOD condition. It is free of significant wear, tears or otherserious damage. There are some water stains, but the hand-written entries arecompletely legible.
