Mongolian Badge of a BestMilitary School Student, #192, circa 1950s.
Guaranteed 100% ORIGINAL old, officially issued badge from the Communist Era, not a recent issue or areplica!
The badge is made in brass withgilt finish and paint. Medallion is 30.6 mm wide. Nice, crude qualitycharacteristic of the early Mongolian badges produced locally rather than inthe Soviet Union. Interestingly, the red paint is of lower quality than enamelthat appeared on some of the later issues of the same badge (with higher serialnumbers) which we handled in the past. Also, there is no blue enamel in thecenter. There is however clearly visible original gilt finish in the center ofthe badge on the background and no traces of missing enamel, so it is verylikely that this is the very early issue of the badge that never had blueenamel and had paint instead of nicer red enamel.
There are some small scuffs andchips to the red paint, but the badge is in Great condition otherwise. Thesuspension is original, and the pin attachment is fully functional.
A similar badge is shown in thecatalog “Mongolian Orders, Medals & Badges” by Dr. A. Battushig (page 81,fig. C22).
