No markings present on holster other than US. A well-established Model 1911/1911A collector recently evaluated this holster. Comments included: "Probably WW 1 era due to brass hanger. Possibly private purchase as WW 1 officers were required to purchase their own sidearms and uniforms" Also noted by another collector: "Stitching does follow same pattern along outside edge as a standard G.I. Model 1911/1911A1 holster". In our opinion, this holster may have been made exclusively for civilian/commercial use only by a cobbler, saddle maker or leather goods manufacturer. We have no explanation as to why the four rivets are not in place.
