Offered here is this NOS G-1 Flying Jacket made by L.W. FOSTER SPORTSWEAR CO., INC. in 1958. They were among a small number of contractors who made massive numbers of jackets for the USN and USAF.


This is from their contract DA-36-243-QM(CTM)2134. After one more contract, Lou Foster would no longer make leather garments, but produced leisure suits (this information from his grandson). His brother Irvin B. Foster and he argued over the company future, and Irvin left to start his own business, still making the iconic G-1 jacket, along with many other forms of military clothing.


The goatskin leather is mint. All parts are genuine to the jacket. Mouton collar is immaculate and shows the original dark chocolate shade. Knits are pristine, which is very rare after all this time. Blackened Conmar zipper is mint.

This specific contract was the same often worn by President John F. Kennedy on his sailing escapades.


Finding an example in New Old Stock condition is extremely rare nowadays. This is the real deal if you are looking for a genuine G-1 that will last you another 63 years.
