The maternity medal has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 29 mm, was made of silver (medal I degree) or bronze (medal II degree).
On the front side there are profile busts of a mother and a child. In the upper left part there is an asterisk from which the rays diverge. Around the circle is a narrow laurel wreath. In the lower part there is a ribbon with the inscription \"USSR\".On the reverse side there is an image of a hammer and sickle and the inscriptions \"MEDAL\" (above), \"MOTHERHOOD\" (below). All images and inscriptions on the medal are convex.The Motherhood Medal is a medal, a women\'s state award of the USSR. Introduced by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on July 8, 1944 to reward mothers who gave birth to and raised 5 or 6 children. It has two degrees, the 1st degree is the senior.
