Moritz Ruhl of Leipzig was a long-established specialist publisher of military, heraldic, flag, uniform and insignia reference material.

The firm's compact illustrated guides were revised as German military uniforms and rank systems evolved during the 1930s.

This 13th–15th edition represents the prewar 24-plate format and provides a detailed contemporary record of military uniforms and insignia immediately before the beginning of the Second World War.

  The black printed outer covers show age-related handling, rubbing, edge and corner wear, light soiling and age toning.

  The front cover and first orange title/insert leaf have tears and weakening around the lower staple area.

  The interior illustrated plates retain strong original color and good visual detail, with normal age-related toning, spotting and handling consistent with an approximately 88-year-old reference booklet.

  There are pencil drawings on the final three blank pages, together with pencil markings/drawings on blank areas associated with the rear foldout. These have been left untouched.

  The original rear comparative rank foldout is substantially incomplete. A surviving section remains attached, but significant portions of the original foldout are missing.

  No loose pages are noted in the booklet.

  Please examine all high-resolution photographs carefully. The photographs form an important part of the condition description and show the exact item being offered.

  Despite the incomplete rear foldout and normal period wear, the principal illustrated content remains attractive and this is a desirable original circa-1938 German uniform and insignia reference.
