Original WWII German Wound Badge Certificate – Horst Fiedler – Führungs-Nachrichten-Regiment 40 – 1942
Offered here is an original WWII-period German certified copy / Beglaubigte Abschrift of a Besitzzeugnis for the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz (Wound Badge in Black) issued to Funker Horst Fiedler of 13./Führ.-Nachr. Regt. 40 – 13th Company, Führungs-Nachrichten-Regiment 40.
This is an original wartime certified copy, not a modern reproduction. The document records that Horst Fiedler received the Wound Badge in Black for a single qualifying wound suffered on:
27 January 1942
The certificate was issued at:
Reserve-Lazarett Timmendorferstrand
30 December 1942
The original underlying certificate is recorded as signed by:
Dr. Kramer
Stabsarzt / Chief Medical Officer
This surviving sheet is specifically headed “Beglaubigte Abschrift” – Certified Copy and was officially certified as matching the original at:
Bad Blankenburg (Thüringer Wald)
15 February 1943
The lower portion retains the Bad Blankenburg municipal stamp/seal and original certification signature.
Military unit 40 was a specialized German Army high-command signals formation responsible for major communications networks, including telephone, field cable and overhead wire systems.Horst Fiedler served with the regiment’s 13th Company, documented in wartime organization as a communications construction company.
Unit records show that while much of Führungs-Nachrichten-Regiment 40 was withdrawn from Russia for refitting in December 1941, the 13th Company remained deployed in the Eastern Front operational area into 1942. Fiedler’s recorded wound date of 27 January 1942 therefore falls directly within this documented Eastern Front deployment period.
This makes the certificate considerably more researchable than a generic Wound Badge award document.
