RARE Civil War Regimental Numbers - Original Brass w/2 Wire Fasteners on each:
$24.95

These are very rare original Civil War Regimental numbers for a 61st RegimentThese are complete with the two prong attachments on the back. They are One inch high and inches 5/8\" wide. Brass regimental numbers were worn on the front of the Jeff Davishat or the front or top of the kepi (forage cap). Most were five-eighths of an inch in height by regulation and would fit within the circle formed by the tube of the infantryhorn. Numbers, however, can also be found that were one inch in height. The regulations only mention company letters worn on the front of the forage cap.In practice soldiers wore various insignia on their forage caps including the branchof service insignia intended for the hat, regimental numbers, company letters, letters indicating their state or regimental nickname and corps badges. In some cases the foragecaps were devoid of insignia. The letters each have 2 wire prongs were soldered to the backs of the numbers to attach them to the hat. Very Good to excellent.
