RARE Late 1700\'s 1st Empire French Napoleonic Officer\'s Chapeau Bicorne Hat:
$2800.00

1st Empire French Napoleonic bicorne (or bicorn) with gold officer\'s litzen and Frenchred, white and blue cockade. The bicorne (two-cornered/horned) is an archaic form of hat widely adopted in the 1790s as an item of uniform by European and American military and naval officers. It is now most readily associated with Napoleon Bonaparte, but in practice most generals and staff officers of the Napoleonic period wore bicornes, and it survived as a widely worn full-dress headdress until at least 1914. This example is consistent with what a higher ranking officer would have worn such as a General or Marshall of France. It is a complete example and would only be enhanced with proper and professional restoration. Anything related to Napoleon 1st will only increase in value as we move into the future of militaria collecting. A very rare opportunity to acquire and own an iconic piece of headgear from one of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte\'s Generals or Marshals of France! Due to the rarity of this item insurance based on the final selling price will be added to the shipping cost.

Condition:Good. Hat split on folds, but shows honest age and wear.
