The 1940 Lucky Strike Cigarette Pack and the 1941 Lucky Strike Cigarette Pack were somewhat different in their appearance. The design of the Lucky Strike "Green" Cigarette Pack changed slightly between 1940 and 1941. The Lucky Strike "Green" Cigarette Pack in the photos (shown in the photos as theOriginal WWIIProduction and the Reproduction WWII Pack in this listing) both with a Dewitt Clinton Tax Stamp on the top: Series 110 is 1940. The Original WWIIPack and the ReproductionWWII Pack are both cellophanewrapped to maintain freshness. In addition, the inner wrapping is foil covered. The 1940Original WWII Lucky Strike was produced in Factory 130, District of Virginia. In 1941, the word CIGARETTES on the front of the pack changed from curved to strait type font. The Inner foil wrapping was also still used in 1941. TheReproductionWWIILucky Strikecigarette packalso has the inner foil wrapping and cellophane wrapping, however the CIGARETTES has now changed to strait type font. Note: the Dewitt Clinton stamp on thisReproductionWWIILucky Strikepack is Series 112, indicating production in 1942. Thus theReproductionWWIILucky Strike Pack is sort of a historical amalgam, since by 1942, due to the material needs of wartime, the inner foil wrapping changed to paper, however the cellophane outer wrapping continued to be used, to retain the freshness of the tobacco. The Dewitt Clinton stamp Series 112 indicates that this 1942 Reproduction WWII Lucky Strike Pack was produced in Factory 30, District North Carolina.
The 1942 Lucky Strike Cigarette Pack, was also produced with an Armed Forces IssueLucky Strike Cigarette Pack which was produced by the American Tobacco Company (ATC) with the Made in U.S.A. Tax paid Stamp on the top. This stamp was added to cigarette packs that had the tax paid by the manufacturer for shipment overseas to the Armed Forces during WWII. Note: this particular type of stamp was not authorized or used for normal civilian sales. On this pack, the word CIGARETTES on the front of the pack is completely horizontal, which was introduced in 1941. The inner wrapping is paper for wartime material need, introduced in 1942. This pack would not have had a cellophane outer wrapping. The 1942 pack was produced in Factory 30, District North Carolina.
TheOriginal WWII1941 Camel Cigarette Pack displayed a fairly standardized packaging appearance. The design of theOriginal WWIICamel Cigarette Pack changed slightly between 1941 and 1942, but only by the color of the bottom facing material. The bottom of theOriginal WWIICamel Cigarette Pack 1941, as is the bottom of theReproductionWWIICamel Cigarette Pack,is silver with blue print (Camel 20's); the inner wrapping is foil and the cellophane wrapping is present. Typical of theOriginal WWII,as well as that of theReproductionWWII
Camel Cigarettes in 1941 packaging was produced by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Factory Number 1, District of North Carolina. Other packaging produced by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company included Factory 97, District of North Carolina.
The Camel Cigarette pack of 1942 remained the standardized appearance of the 1941 pack with appropriate Dewitt Clinton Tax Stamps being of Series 112, which denotes 1942. Also in 1942, the silver bottom color has been eliminated and replaced with a very light grey color, with the print (Camel 20's) in blue. The inner rapping is still foil and the cellophane continued to be present. Once again, a typical packaging would have been produced by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, possibly in Factory Number 1, District of North Carolina.
By later 1942 and through the rest of World War II, packaging of the Camel Cigarette pack changed based on the wartime demands. As with the Lucky Strike packaging, the shift to paper wrapping was present for the remainder of the war in the Camel Cigarette packs. The Camel Cigarette packs also had the same Dewitt Clinton stamps depending on the year of production and also were marked as needed byArmed ForcesIssueCamel Cigarette Pack with the Made in U.S.A. Tax paid Stamp on the top.

There are also numerous life sizedisplays of 82nd and 101st Airborne paratroopers in the Airborne Museum inSainte-Mère-Égliseand Dead Man's Corner Museum located inSaint-Côme-du-Mont(which is now part of the D-Day Experience in Carentan). We have also used the same travel format,on several occasions,to visit the Bastogne area, including the Baugnez '44 Museum, the site of the Malmedy Massacre, the 101st Airborne Museum in Bastogne, the Bastogne War Museum, the still existing foxholes of the 502nd and 506th P.I.R. and the pastoral surrounding area in Belgium. We have found both the French and the Belgian people, especially in the towns in Normandy and area near Bastogne, to be very friendly and still grateful to the Allies, especially the American forces, for their liberation, despite the huge loss of life and property damage suffered by the French and Belgian civilians.
