Rare ANTI ADOLPH HITLER Fascist Bohemian Counterculture 1940 NYC WWII Newspaper For Sale

Rare ANTI ADOLPH HITLER Fascist Bohemian Counterculture 1940 NYC WWII NewspaperOffered is an original, collectible newspaper (NOT a copy/reproduction): THE HOBO NEWS, New York, November, 1940 An interesting monthly \"street\" newspaper that existed from 1936 to 1948, distributed by street sellers in bohemian areas. It was produced in part by hobos.
The front page is dramatic with: \"TO HELL WITH HITLER - Public Enemy No. 1\" with a cartoonish print of Hitler as a wolf. The back page is equally as dramatic, showing Churchill about to behead Hitler with an ax.Complete in 20 pages, tabloid-size, very nice condition. Background: This complete, 20-page November 1940 issue of The Hobo News stands out as an exceptionally rare artifact of American counterculture, blending working-class street vending history with aggressive, pre-Pearl Harbor anti-fascist propaganda. Published in New York and distributed primarily by itinerant workers and street vendors in bohemian quarters like Greenwich Village, the newspaper had an inherently ephemeral lifespan, making pristine, complete editions exceedingly scarce today. What makes this specific issue particularly remarkable is its fierce, visceral visual commentary: a front page featuring the provocative headline \"TO HELL WITH HITLER - Public Enemy No. 1\" alongside a cartoon depicting Hitler as a predatory wolf, paired with a back cover illustrating Winston Churchill preparing to execute Hitler with an axe. Produced more than a year before the United States formally entered World War II—a time when national sentiment was heavily isolationist—this publication captures an early, uncompromising populist resistance to Nazism wrapped in the unique artistic and literary spirit of America\'s itinerant labor movement. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at History\'s Newsstand also offer \"the ugly\" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout \"NO MORE!\". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Women\'s Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction.
