Медаль “За оборону Кавказа”. Вариант 2. Ушко медали цельноштампованное, плоское сточеное. Этот вариант вручался некоторое времяпосле первого варианта, вероятно в 1947-48 годах. Колодка обычно однослойная, выполнена из тяжелого металла. Разновидность 2. Серп и Молот на реверсе медали не имеет \"пупырышка\" на лезвии серпав проекциирукоятки. Эта разновидность характерна для поздних выпусков первого варианта. Медаль “За оборону Кавказа” изготовляется из латуни и имеет форму правильного круга диаметром 32 мм.

Two wartime medals on a single ribbon bar: \"For the Defense of the Caucasus\" and \"For the Defenseof the Soviet Arctic\" ND(1943 - 1948). Brass. Diameter 32 mm. The medals are suspended from an originalheavy metal ribbon bar with the original ribbon. The medal has not been cleaned or polished.Very Good condition: clean surface, natural patina, minor defects, traces of time (see pictures).
Medal \"For the Defense of the Caucasus.\" Type 2. The medal\'s eye is solidly stamped, flat, and ground down. This variant was awarded some timeafter the first variant, likely in 1947-48. The ribbon bar is usually single-layered and made of heavy metal. Variant 2. The Hammer and Sickle on the reverse of the medal lacks the \"pimple\" on the sickle bladenear the handle. This variation is typical of late issues of the first variant.
Medal \"For the Defense of the Soviet Arctic.\" Type 1. The medal tab is attached by soldering. This option was awarded during the final period ofthe Great Patriotic War or immediately after its end. The medal bar is two-layered and made of heavy metal. Variant 2. A convex border runs around the circumference of the medal on the reverse.The Medal\"For the Defense of the Soviet Arctic\" is made of brass and is a perfect circle with a diameter of 32 mm.

Медалью “За оборону Советского Заполярья” награждаются все участники обороны Заполярья -военнослужащие Красной Армии, Военно-Морского Флота и войск НКВД, а также лица из принимавшие непосредственное участие в обороне. Периодом обороны Советского Заполярьясчитается 22 июня 1941 года - ноябрь 1944 года. Вручение медалей производится от имени Президиума Верховного Совета СССР на основании фактическое участие в обороне Заполярья, выдаваемых командирами войсковых частей,начальниками военно-лечебных заведений и Мурманскими областным и городским Советами депутатов трудящихся. Медаль “За оборону Советского Заполярья” носится на левой стороне груди и при наличии других медалейСССР располагается после медали “За оборону Кавказа”. На 1962 год медалью было произведено около 307 тысяч награждений. По состоянию на 1 января 1995 годамедалью “За оборону Советского Заполярья” награждено приблизительно 353.240 человек.

The Medal \"For the Defense of the Caucasus\" was awarded to military personnel and civilian employees of units,formations, and institutions of the Red Army, Navy, and NKVD troops. It was awarded only to those who actuallyparticipated in the defense of the Caucasus for at least three months between July 1942 and October 1943. The Medal \"For the Defense of the Soviet Arctic\". The medal was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on December 5, 1944.
