Offered for sale are two full-size U.S. military medals, an Army Commendation Medal with V device and an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Both have their original-style suspension ribbons and mounting hardware as pictured.
ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL WITH V DEVICE
This hexagonal medal features an American eagle on the front and the words “FOR MILITARY MERIT” on the reverse. The Army Commendation Medal recognizes heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The gold-colored “V” device on the green-and-white ribbon denotes an award for valor involving heroism in combat. This distinguishes a valor award from a commendation for routine meritorious service. The reverse has a blank naming panel, as photographed.
ARMED FORCES EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL
This round medal features an eagle with a sword and compass-like design, surrounded by “ARMED FORCES EXPEDITIONARY SERVICE.” The reverse reads “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” around a shield.
It recognizes participation in designated U.S. military operations or expeditions involving foreign armed opposition or the threat of hostile action. Its multicolored ribbon is blue-centered with red, white, brown, yellow and green accents. No additional service star or device is visible on this medal.
