SCOTTISH BASKET HILT SWORD BLADE,BATTLE OF CULLODEN, SCOTLAND, 1746
This double edged Scottish basket hilt sword blade is from the Battle of Culloden, Scotland fought on April 16, 1746. It was found near (what is now called The Well of the Dead on the old Scottish battlefield many years ago. This sword blade is 37 7/8” overall length x 1 3/8” wide at the guard with a 33 1/8” double edged blade that has 3 blood groves. It is in good & well used condition with light to light/medium pits & is remarkably still dully shiny.
It was part of the famous Colin Campbell Collection of Scottish swords & knives. He bought this sword blade in Inverness Scotland during World War II in1944 & it became one of the center pieces of his collection. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
