South Africa Police Slangvel REPRO Medium SAP Special Task Force STF RARE Camo For Sale

The Slangvel is South Africa's take on the classic British Denison Smock design. Keeping the 4-pocket layout with slanted inwards upper pockets and the tail, South Africa added unique ripstop canvas reinforcement material to the bottoms of the pockets, shoulders, and elbows. Like most para smocks, Slangvels are associated with elite airborne units, particularly the South African Parabats and the Recces, as well as select formations like the South Africa Police Special Task Force (STF).
This Slangvel is a custom-made REPRODUCTION of the STF Slangvel. It was made from NOS South Africa Police 2nd Pattern Fabric and based on the one photo I could find at the time of the SAP Slangvel showing it from the back worn at a ceremony; more recent pictures show that the front is slightly different than the classic Slangvel cut. The SAP STF is the South Africa Police Service's elite SWAT team. These highly trained operators are deployed to protect important events and people as well as to respond to violent crime and hostage situations. The South Africa Police Service issues camouflage uniforms since it often has to patrol remote areas in the bush. During the brutal Border War of the 1980's. the South Africa Police did its own fair share of fighting communist-backed insurgents both inside and outside South Africa's borders; the experiences of those years forged it into the world-renowned SWAT unit it is today.
