The 84th Guards Rifle Division was a military unit of the USSR Armed Forces in the Great Patriotic War.Formed on 10.04.1943 by transforming the 110th Rifle Division.The 110th Rifle Division was formed in July 1941 in Moscow from the 4th People's Militia Division. In July-August 1943, the 84th Guards Rifle Division took part in the Oryol Strategic Offensive Operation, and on August 15, 1943, it liberated the city of Karachev, for which it received the honorary title of Karachevskaya.In September-October 1943, it took part in the Bryansk offensive operation, in October-December 1943, in the Nevelsk-Gorodok offensive operation. It takes part in fierce battles, suffers heavy losses, and on March 22, 1944, it was withdrawn to the rear for reinforcements.Since June 1944, it has been participating in the Belarusian strategic offensive operation, within the framework of which it fights in the Vitebsk-Orsha offensive operation and the Minsk offensive operation. It participated in the liberation of the cities of Orsha, Molodechno, successfully crossed the Neman, and liberated Alytus. Since July 1944, it has been participating in the Vilnius offensive operation.On 27.07.1944 it was withdrawn to the rear, and by 31.07.1944 it was back in the active army. In July-August 1944 it took part in the Kaunas offensive operation, on 16.10.1944 it crossed the border of East Prussia, and in October 1944 it took part in the Gumbinnen-Goldap offensive operation.In 1945, it took part in the Insterburg-Königsberg offensive operation, took part in the storming of Königsberg, the capture of Pillau, and completed military operations on the Baltic Spit.
