USSR citizen's work record bookA work record book is an official personal document containing records of a citizen's employment . They have been known in Europe since the late 18th century (France; the document's name, the French " livret d'ouvrier, " also originated there ). In the USSR, work lists (labor books) were introduced to replace pre-revolutionary service records , which covered only certain categories of citizens.
In modern Russia, until 2021, a work record book was issued upon first employment [ 1 ] . It is stored in the HR department of the employer organization and contains personal information (last name, first name, patronymic), date and year of birth, education, profession, and specialty. Changes and information about the relationship with the employer are recorded in the work record book and certified by the signature of the responsible HR employee. Dismissal records are certified by the employee's personal signature. Upon dismissal or transfer to another job, the work record book is issued to the employee, and when formalizing employment with a new organization, it is transferred to its HR department.
An employee can also request a work record book from the HR department to process their pension. After receiving the document from the SFR, they are required to return the work record book to the employer within three business days [ 2 ] . Another reason an employee may receive a work record book even without resigning is if they decide to switch to work history records—form STD-R or an electronic work record bookCondition Fine
