Rare 1947 Soviet Officer Visor Cap – Made by Robert Lubstein (EREL), Berlin
This is the rare round visor cap, issued only in 1947 and discontinued just a year later.
This is a rare postwar Soviet officer visor cap, stamped in Cyrillic with — the Russian transliteration of Robert Lubstein, Berlin. Robert Lubstein is better known as EREL, the renowned manufacturer of German military caps. The cap is marked size 56 and dated 1947. The stamp is quite faint, but this is 100% a genuine EREL-manufactured piece.
The roughly painted cockade, which may appear crude, is actually a distinctive feature of German-made caps from this period.
Of particular note is the sweatband, made from high-quality leather, a feature rarely seen in Soviet-made caps of the time. Unfortunately, the sweatband has suffered significant wear due to poor maintenance by the original Soviet owner. Nevertheless, it remains a historically valuable and uncommon example.
Many collectors may be unaware that the Soviet military sourced caps from German manufacturers like EREL in the immediate postwar years. From 1945 to the early/mid-1950s, various German companies produced items such as belts, holsters, map cases, and officer caps for Soviet forces as part of war reparations.
Please refer to the sixth photo for a comparison example of a German Wehrmacht visor cap.
This is a highly collectible piece for anyone interested in Soviet or Cold War militaria, especially items with postwar German production links.
Great item for the advanced collectors.
This is truly a rare opportunity—don’t miss out!
