Soviet Badge “Ready for Labor and Defense”, 1st Level Badge, 1940 type.

This is GUARANTEED ORIGINAL Soviet badge of WW2 era – not a more recent issue or replica! This version of the badge was manufactured in 1940-41 and issued until 1946, when it was replaced by a different, smaller version.

The badge is made in Nickel-plated Brass and high quality Enamels, measures 35.6 x 27.2 mm. Very nice quality! The badge is in excellent overall condition. All of enamel is intact and all of it is 100% original - there are no enamel repairs. The details of the running athlete are nicely defined. All of the original nickel finish is still present and shows little wear. The screw post is original and measures over 9 mm long.The screw plate is original and shows the 1940 date.

The recipient had to pass rigorous physical fitness tests to become eligible for this award. This is a very early model: the badges of this type could be issued until 1946, but they were only produced from 1940 through mid-1941 (production of badges stopped almost immediately after the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941). This badge would be very appropriate on a Soviet WW2 uniform, and they are often appear in early WW2 photos of RKKA servicemen.
