Up for sale is a World War II matched set that includes the Order of the Red Star and a model 1935 officers belt. As you can tell from the photos, the decoration and the belt have been attached for some time. You can see where the star has made marks on both the front and backside of the belt. You can also see slight corrosion on the back of the decoration from being against leather for all these past decades.


Now for the cool part, this Order of the Red Star was awarded at the end of summer 1944 in central Poland. The awardee (who was 45 at the time) was acting squad leader as he stormed the hill. Pursuing the retreating enemy, resulting in the destruction of 10 enemy soldiers. The Germans, then counter attacked and the result was another 12 soldiers taken by the Russian squad.


These awards that were awarded for direct action are much more sought after than for meritorious service awards. It’s fantastic that this comes with the owners original wartime belt as well!
