Swiss Model 1867 cavalry trooper sword made by Alex Coppel of Solingen and dated 1881 on ricasso. Sword, guard, backstrap have uniform dark patina. Blade in nice condition but for a few small nicks to edge. Grip leather ~70% intact but is dry and brittle. One side of ricasso has "Alex. Coppel, Solingen" with that firm's scales maker mark and Swiss cross. Obverse has "81" date and "4687" serial number. Underside of bowl guard has "45" rack number. All parts solid with no movement. Scabbard is later date and has been chromed. Some de-lamination of chrome plate has occurred at middle of scabbard. Sword blade is 34.25" and sword weighs 2 lbs 3 ozs.
