Tiffany-made Civil War Era M1852 US Naval Officer Sword:

Civil War era US Navy M1852 Tiffany-made sword. Excellent condition.
One side has thirteen stars representing the original thirteen colonies, and has written "Tiffany & co New York"The other side has an anchor with the American eagle with the writing, "Warranted to cut wrought iron" below that the blade is stamped PDL, with an E next to it.
This sword represents an era where US Naval Officers swords were still made for combat and has sturdy steel blade. In the 1870s, blades became relegated to ceremonial status, and were considerably slimmed down and straightened. Modern-made USN officer swords are stainless steel, and could be snapped with minimal effort.
This would be an excellent gift for an active or retired US Naval officer, a sword with real history!
